APMSYN22 wideband agile frequency synthesizer module

Classification:

Frequency synthesizer

The APMSYN22 is a compact wideband frequency synthesizer for generating accurate and stable signals in CW and pulse form, with a frequency range of 100kHz to 22GHz, frequency and amplitude switching times as low as 5 µs (with option FS ), and an output power adjustable range of-40dBm to 25dBm. Low phase noise at 1GHz output -132dBc/Hz @ 20kHz, sub-harmonics below-60dBc. The frequency setting resolution is up to 0.01Hz and the power resolution is 0.5dB.

  • APMSYN22 broadband agile frequency synthesizer has excellent shielding performance, and uses a very compact module form, weighing less than 0.5kg, power consumption is only 17W, so passive cooling can be used. It comes standard with an Ethernet communication port for local and remote connection to a PC to control standard GUI software or user-defined SCPI commands.

The module has external reference support for both 100MHz and 1GHz frequencies. The 100MHz external reference input/output facilitates reference synchronization with other devices, while the 1GHz external reference input/output is essential for using multiple APMSYN22 to form a highly stable multi-channel coherent signal source system. When multiple APMSYN22 units can be connected together, one of the units acts as the master and the other units act as the slave, a multi-channel phase coherent source with extremely high stability can be easily realized. At this time, the master reference frequency of 1GHz only needs to be generated once in the master unit, and then circulates down through all the slave units in turn. Theoretically, this cycle can reach an infinite number of times. By cascading in this way, for example, when all channel outputs are set to 5GHz, the drift of the phase coherence over 10 hours is only ± 0.5 °.

    ● Frequency range: 100kHz to 22GHz

    ● Switching time: 5μs

    ● Output power:-40dBm to 25dBm

    ● 1GHz phase noise:-132dBc/Hz @ 20kHz

    Continuous wave, scanning, pulse output

    ● 1GHz input and output synchronization signal supports coherent cascade of multiple devices

    ● Small size: 134 x95x24mm / 450g

When four devices are cascaded to form a four-channel output phase-referenced source system, there is no need to introduce a common reference from the outside. The APMSYN22 standard provides a 1GHz high-frequency and high-stability reference clock output with an accuracy of up to ± 30ppb (1GHz high-frequency reference synchronization signal is essential for stable output of phase coherent signals for a long time!). At this time, the synchronous clock only needs to be set and generated on the master device, and the slave device only needs to be set to the external reference input of 1GHz. All the external reference inputs of 1GHz of the slave device are actually output by the master device and transmitted to the next slave device through the internal power division and amplification of the first slave device. Such a cycle can realize a coherent system with very multi-channel output!

When the APMSYN22 adopts the recommended method to realize the multi-channel phase parameter output system, taking each channel outputting 5GHz continuous wave at the same time as an example, it can ensure that the relative phase difference drift between channels is only ± 0.5 ° after 10 hours of continuous operation.
